Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Ah, the moment you've all been waiting for. I've finally gotten the pictures that Ty has taken and I've organized them according to each place he's been with the information he wants me to share. Bear with me, there are a lot of pictures, so I figured out the best way to do this would be to divide them in the order that he has traveled and try to do a little at a time.

His first stop was Houston, Texas, as most of you know already. I'm not going to reiterate any of that here. If you want a refresher course in that, just go into the blog archives in 2007 and you should find that particular story near the very beginning.

His first stop was Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates. There are various pictures of Dubai here, only a few were taken from the ground. Most of them give a good 'aerial' view of the city itself because Ty was able to go onto the roof of the hotel he was staying in and view the city from there. I thought that was really cool.

This is the Hallmark Hotel. Ty stays here every time he flies in and out of Dubai.

A view of the inside of his room. The beds are basically set up like our hotels but I'm liking the bathroom here, all the marble and the "shower" thing to spray off your butt?? Nice... **LOL**

This is a wall of running water inside the Hallmark Hotel. Although you cannot see the running water, it is actually running down the darker part of the wall.

This is a chandelier hanging from the ceiling down through the spiral staircase.

These are the two pictures taken from the ground. The one on the left is a picture of various restaurants that we have here; KFC, Hardee's, etc.

The rest of the pictures are taken from the roof of his hotel of various parts of the city. The next two I find particularly interesting because some of the buildings remind me of the cartoon "The Jetsons" ...(insert Jetsons theme song here)...

The following two are views of the different structures throughout the city and the rooftops of other buildings. The tall thin buildings you see off in the distance are part of the city as well. It is quite a large city and as you can tell, Ty gets quite a view from the rooftop. The structures off in the distance are really different but he was unable to get close-up shots of them when he was near them.

Some pictures of the Arabic writing on different buildings and signs. Little tidbit of information - the Arabic language is written from right to left (as are a lot of other foreign languages) and I personally find it quite intriguing. Notice the one on the left has American writing with it. Almost everywhere you go in Dubai has English and Arabic on the buildings.

This last one is a picture of the National Bank of Dubai. Quite a large bank, isn't it?? :)
