Learning to read can be so much fun for kids and parents. I have to confess here, as much as I love to read, I'm not big on keeping the little ones caught up on their reading skills throughout the summer. So, every year it's the same thing, the first two weeks of school are a little groggy because we are trying to remember what sound this letter makes and that letter makes and what's that word there?
Zoe was reading a book tonight about itchy, itchy chicken pox. She just happened to come upon the word shirt. Shirt. And she had to look at it for awhile so I asked her if she wanted to sound it out.
That is exactly what she did.
Shiiiii....ert....
Shii..errt....
Shit hurts!
